We help domestic violence survivors stay connected to family.friends.their job.the world.

At More Than a Phone, we partner with domestic violence programs across the country to provide free smartphones and data service to the survivors they support.

Hidden in Plain Sight

Over 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men
in the US have experienced intimate partner violence.

More than 12 million people every year are affected by intimate partner violence.

1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men aged 18 and older in the US have been the victim of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime.

All statistics are from the National Domestic Violence Hotline.

The Impact of a Safe Phone

When people leave an abuser and head to a shelter, it’s often done hastily without enough time to grab personal belongings. These survivors may not have a phone with them, or the one they do have can be tracked by their abuser.

The phones we donate are a safe line that cannot be monitored by an abuser.

Our Mission

At More Than a Phone, we believe survivors of domestic violence deserve a reliable and safe smartphone. Through our program, we connect survivors to the world around them so they can build a strong foundation to support themselves and their families. Through volunteerism and victim advocacy, our goal is to cultivate community across the US and give survivors more than just a phone.

Our Roadmap

We partner with wireless retailers and other businesses to gather donated phones, tablets, and laptops, which are recycled and turned into monetary support.

We connect with communities by fostering relationships with local nonprofits.

We assemble packages for our nonprofit partners containing 40 Verizon smartphones, SIM cards, and chargers with four months of service and data.

Our nonprofit partners distribute these phone packages to survivors in need to keep them connected and safe during an important transition to freedom.

We continue looking to create new relationships that provide ways to grow our outreach and help even more communities.

A little goes a long way.

Whether it’s used to pay for data service or cover shipping, your monetary donation will be going toward a great cause.
